A Unique Sunken Patio Retreat for Client Lisa

For our client, Lisa, we didn’t want to just build on top of the landscape—we wanted to create a special space within it. This unique project involved designing and engineering a sophisticated sunken patio, transforming a challenging hillside into a private outdoor haven.

The entire structure is masterfully crafted from beautiful, warm-toned wood, which forms both the retaining walls and the wide, inviting steps leading down into the patio. This “outdoor room” is paved with contemporary grey stone, creating a striking contrast of color and texture. Nestled into the landscape, the patio feels sheltered and intimate, while a modern wire mesh fence on the upper level preserves the stunning views of the surrounding hills. This is a perfect example of how thoughtful, architectural design can turn a difficult space into a one-of-a-kind feature.
